A Cap from St. Nicholas

I have to apologize for the winter storm that's predicted for this weekend. Little Lovely had been asking for snow all winter, and now it looks like she's finally going to get it (and then some, according to some forecasts!).

Of course, getting snowed in is always a fantastic opportunity to get some crocheting done, and I've got a project for you that takes only one skein of yarn to make, so you needn't brave the crowds at stores to get supplies, and it will keep your little one warm when they're ready to play in the winter wonderland!

A Cap from St Nicholas 1

Our Cap from St. Nicholas (so named because it reminds me of the poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas") uses one skein of Cascade Cherub Aran, a soft, washable acrylic that we carry at Crochet Kitten's Bazaar.

The hat is worked in slip stitch crochet, which results in a super soft and stretchy fabric reminiscent of knitting. You can find our free slip stitch tutorial here.

Special thanks to Amy Kittel for her help in the development of this pattern! See her tips for success here.
