That was the theme of our hometown's annual Christmas parade this year, grand marshaled by none other than Ed Asner of Mary Tyler Moore and Elf fame. A movie-themed Christmas parade with a star from the 70s? My dance troupe (the Suburban Gypsies) couldn't resist. We rocked that parade with a choreography to "You Should Be Dancing" from Saturday Night Fever.
Of course, this also meant we needed to add some crochet to our costumes to make them look really 70s.
There are 16 ladies in the dance troupe and only two other gals crochet, so for three weeks in November, if I was sitting, I was crocheting so I could get these halters done in time. Luckily they were pretty simple--essentially granny squares that tie at the neck and mid-back, and with fringe added. It's worked in Cascade Rabat, a self striping yarn, to cut down on the number of ends to be woven in.
I'm going to share the pattern with you all, but first, a snippet of our performance with the whole troupe decked out in 70s glamour.
